Tutankhamun - CoverBOOK SYNOPSIS

2014 EVVY Merit Award for Historical Fiction from CIPA (Colorado Independent Publishers Assoc.)

Long ago the old texts of ancient Egypt alluded to scrolls in which King Tut spoke to the people from beyond the tomb. Many archeologists put this down to an incorrect translation of the ancient Egyptian texts. Others swore to the accuracy of the translation. None of that mattered because the scrolls in question could not be found. Scholars labeled it a hoax, something that never existed. It was ludicrous to imagine someone speaking from the grave. They were wrong on both accounts.

Excerpts

Sailing toy boats
When I was small, palace carpenters made me toy boats. Sometimes these were made to resemble the barges that would carry crops and animals down and up the Nile from one settlement to another. Some were fully outfitted royal barges complete with sails and the poles used when the barge was moving up river. I started playing with these in the palace pools. Later, as I got better at loading them and maneuvering them, I would find a place near the palace where the Nile ran slower. There I would dig out canals for the boats to float in. Sometimes Ankhesenpaaten would help me. One time we had so many canals built that it took all afternoon for our crop barges and the royal barges to enter into the canal system and then sail through and re-enter the Nile. I loved those days with Ankhesenpaaten by the Nile.

EXCERPT

When Oak Richards accepts Ash MacBryde’s offer of employment to train horses at Crow Creek ranch after months of negotiations and skyping, burning up the airwaves late into the night, they finally meet face-to-face at the Denver airport:

“You were waiting for,” Ash blinked and ticked off the time, “what, almost four hours?”

“I didn’t want to make you wait if the flight was delayed.”

Of course you didn’t.

And he would have been stuck in the baggage area with no place to sit, nothing to eat or drink. Waiting, because he didn’t want his new employer to be inconvenienced.

Not that he was trying to up the ante, but Ash explained, “The roads are bad,” and waved a hand around the room. “I figured it might be better not to drive home tonight. It’s seven hours or so. Longer if the weather’s bad.”

Oak finally looked him in the eye and sputtered, “S-seven hours?”

It was Ash’s turn to shrug. He wasn’t sure who was going to win in the non-verbal communication category. So far it seemed pretty much a draw.

Glancing at his watch, he asked, “You hungry?”

Ash marveled as gratitude blossomed in bottomless blue eyes, followed by hesitancy and a fierce reluctance to appear at all dependent. He understood that all too well. He’d been there for many long months after his father kicked him out, relying on handouts to survive, doing whatever it took. It was one reason he’d ended up in the military. Uncle Sam and the Corps had given him the one gift he’d thought he lost forever that Christmas Eve so many years ago: his self-respect.

Although he was more comfortable judging horses than people, Oak was like an open book to him. And that was yet another reason to go slow. They were too much alike, skittish with anything new. Oakley Richards was going to require time and gentling.

He hoped to hell he was a good enough man for the job.

Nya Rawlyns is a writer, editor and hopeless optimist. She’s lived on a sailboat on the Chesapeake Bay, ridden more than 1000 miles in trail competitions on horseback and been owned by two Newfoundlands. She’s currently staff for a herd of cats and a herd of horses.

She writes edgy romance, where emotion is a contact sport, rough and often raw. It need not be pleasant, heart-warming or forever after. What she seeks is what lies beneath--a dance of extremes, the intersect of need and desire, and the compromises you make when pain and pleasure become indistinguishable.

Book Blurb

Following personal tragedies and spiralling financial problems, Londoners Alex and Sara are desperate to find ways to rediscover their zest for life. A free holiday provides the perfect opportunity for a second chance, but not long after arriving in France they discover that all is not what it seems... A series of shocking revelations challenge their understanding of humanity, as they are propelled into a dangerous world governed by a ruthless occult society. Magical relics and extra-terrestrial objects promise to unlock incredible secrets, but what extremes will people go to in order to attain them? In a modern-day spiritual quest, Alex and Sara will be forced to take control of their destiny, facing their own demons along the way as time counts down, for them and the entire human race…

excerpt

While Alex explored, Sara popped in and out of a cute little shop and bought a book on ‘Mary Magdelene’. In addition to the numerous signs of the shell, they found symbols or Yantras in the pavements. Alex stopped quite still and spoke ‘Yantras are mystical symbols used to focus the mind on spiritual concepts, an artistic wordless code which feeds the expansion of consciousness. The act of concentrating on a Yantra has transformational consequences.’ Alex’s imagination was on fire, like the light in his eyes. Why were these signs here? Strange but true, the two of them were walking through a village in Southern France, looking at the pebble Yantras they had found embedded in the cobbled pavements. Alex studied them, like a time travelling detective, as if he knew what he was looking at. ‘This one is a symbol about becoming a whole human being’ he commented on the circle made up of hundreds of individual pebbles ‘…and this one concerns the next dimension, the consciousness of the Soul.’ ‘How do you know that?’ enquired Sara…

Praise

The Soul Whisperer has the potential to be a huge bestseller. In the same spiritual-adventure mold as The Da Vinci Code and The Celestine Prophecy, J. M. Harrison's novel is a rich and riveting read full of 'hidden truths and unspoken possibilities'. - Stephen Gawtry, Managing Editor, Watkins Mind Body Spirit Magazine

M. Harrison writes in a compelling style which draws you in to this riveting story that challenges your current beliefs. - Claire Gillman, Editor, Kindred Spirit Magazine

Is it possible that a secret cartel of top ranking individuals are guilty of catastrophic greed and extreme profiteering, manipulating humanity for profit, promoting religious differences, war and chaos right now as has been their mission for millennia? Perhaps there is more to this book than just a great read. - Wayne Herschel, author of ‘The Hidden Records’

The more of us who read this gripping, un-put-downable novel the better. Why? - Because although, at one level, it is pure fiction at another level it is telling us about what is going behind the scenes in the world, where ' Brutal Oligarchy' is presented to us in the media as 'Good Democracy'. The Soul Whisperer contains powerful shades of Orwell's '1984' and Huxley's 'Brave New World', some of whose prophecies are coming to pass right now. - Michael Gabriel, author and CEO ContextforChange.com

Meet the Author

new author shotBorn in southern England in the mid 60's, by the early 1980's Jonathan's natural creativity was expressed through contemporary singing and song writing. In 1987 he underwent an interesting short stint as the lead singer of the popular band Frankie Goes To Hollywood following the departure of vocalist Holly Johnson. By the end of his music career in 1990 he was awarded a gold disc for his lead vocal on the Telstar compilation album "Get on This 2", which sold over 100,000 copies, going to number 2 in the UK album charts.

Following a profound mystical death experience in 2007, the spiritual realization which took place inspired him to write his first book "We Are All One: A call to spiritual uprising". Written in just six days, the critically acclaimed work was the WINNER of the 2009 Allbooks International Editor’s Choice Award (USA) in the Spirituality & Inspiration category.

By January 2009 he accepted an invitation to teach alongside Barbara Marx-Hubbard, Esther Hicks, Steve and Barbara Rother and others on the international seminar series ‘Intimate conversations with Masters and Mystics' hosted by Linda L. Pannell.

Jonathan’s second book ‘NAKED BEING: Undressing Your Mind, Transforming Your Life’ – was published by O books on the 28th May 2010. Further kudos followed when it was honored as a Best Books Award Finalist 2010 (USA Book News) in the genre of Spirituality.

During a vacation in France in 2013, Jonathan wrote his first novel THE SOUL WHISPERER. The novel is a cross-genre mix of fact and fiction, blended with the many experiences and phenomena that have taken place in the author’s life. The completed manuscript caught the imagination of international publishers, and a deal was struck with Roundfire Books in 2015.
